Adults are an integral part of the COR Retreat.
Adults may offer to volunteer for a COR retreat if they appreciate and love teenagers, if they can be real with them, if they can share honestly their life struggles and experience of faith with them, and if they are willing and able to dedicate a whole weekend to the teens.
Adults may also be invited to the COR retreat by other adults or teens.
The “Adult Team” constitutes the leadership of the retreat. The Adult Team is composed of a considerable number of persons.
An Adult Couple –known as “Mom and Dad”- leads the COR weekend.
Normally, another couple –known as the “Back-Up Couple”- supports the lead couple.
Often the weekend is enriched by a couple new to COR – and known as the “Rookie Couple”.
Single adults may also join the Adult Team.
Mom and dad establish the tone of the retreat by their open sharing and by their encouragement, and run the retreat according to its published schedule.
The Back-up Couple assists the lead couple in introducing some of the activities of the weekend.
The Rookie Couple experiences the COR Retreat without any responsibility, simply enjoying the weekend and the teens.
Adult leaders are also essential for the Kitchen Crew functioning.
Some adults –couples or singles- volunteer to supervise and direct the Kitchen Crew Team for the whole retreat or for parts of it.
Other adults simply volunteer to cook, or donate a meal.
Some adults offer to coordinate the purchasing of the retreat’s food and supplies, or to manage the scheduling of cooks and adult volunteers.
